A bid is being developed across Birmingham, the Black Country, Solihull and Telford to round one of the Future Jobs Fund and expressions of interest are invited from voluntary sector organisations wanting to be part of the bid. The main aim of the fund is to create 150,000 jobs between October 2009 and March 2011; 100,000 for young people 18 – 24 and 50,000 in unemployment hotspots for long term unemployed over 24 and on benefits. To be considered for Future Jobs Funding, all jobs must:
• Be extra (new jobs)
• Last for at least 6 months
• Be for long term unemployed young people
• Be for long term unemployed in unemployment hotspots.
• Deliver work that benefits local communities
• Be under way quickly
Kim Mocroft is leading Sandwell’s input into this bid. Organisations interested need to complete a Future Jobs Fund Template (see below) and return it to Kim by 10th June 2009. It is hoped that each participant will be able to create at least 30 jobs in Sandwell over a 6 month period.
There will be a second round of the Fund with a September 2009 deadline. Let Kim know if you would like to be involved in the second round. Contact Kim on kim_mocroft@sandwell.gov.uk or 0845 352 1255 or Heather Chinner on 0121 569 302 or visit: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/campaigns/futurejobsfund/
