A Full House at SCVO’s Autumn Conference

SCVO welcomed 90 delegates to its Autumn Conference and AGM, held at the Council House in Oldbury on 10th November 2009. 

Following the formal AGM business the theme for the morning was how the Voluntary and Community Sector can influence and engage public bodies more effectively, with a presentation being given by Terry Perkins from NAVCA on Empowering the Voluntary Sector.  A copy of Terry’s presentation can be accessed by clicking the link

Steve Massey from Sandwell MBC presented the FindItInSandwell web portal, further details of which can be accessed by clicking the following link

Contributions were also given by Gary Bowman, Director of Sandwell Partnership, on engaging local partners in Sandwell and Cllr Derek Rowley, who explained his role as Champion for the Third Sector.

An update on key work being undertaken by SCVO, together with information on how it is helping the sector to engage more effective was also given.  To access this presentation please click the link

Voluntary organisations were also encouraged to bring along displays and leaflets to promote their organisation during the networking lunch.
