The Adult and Community Services Learning Unit are holding Carer's Awareness Training which is open to staff or volunteers from voluntary or community organisations, and is free of charge. The aim of the training is to raise awareness of carers' issues ensuring that professionals and organisations understand the issues that impact on carers and what support they can offer to help carers in the community. On the 23rd November 2009, SCVO jointly organised an event with Sandwell Primary Care Trust to update the voluntary and community sector on the PCT's Right Care Right Here Programme (Formerly Towards 2010). The Programme plans to change the way health and social care services are delivered. It is working to deliver care closer to the people who need it and provide high quality care in high quality places to make Sandwell and the Heart of Birmingham healthier places to live and work. SCVO is appealing to Sandwell companies and residents to help raise a new community fund that can provide grant funding for community groups and activities for generations to come. All donations to the Sandwell Grassroots Community Fund are currently being matched pound for pound by the Government.
Next year’s main Children & Young People event will take place on Thursday 4th February 2010 from 4.00pm to 6.30pm in the Richardson Suite, West Bromwich Albion Football Club, The Hawthorns, West Bromwich.
