The commissioning and funding environment in Sandwell is changing. This includes the impact of budget cuts and the emergence of new policy such as the health white paper's shift towards GP consoria handling practice based commissioning. The voluntary and community sector must ensure it is ready to compete in this shifting market place if it wishes to continue to deliver vital services to beneficiaries. SCVO held its AGM on 5 November 2010 where members elected two new directors to its Board - Khatija Patel of Ideal for All and Geoff Foster of Cares. A re-election of Ragih Muflihi of the Yemini Community Association also took place. Being held on 17 November 2010 at The Public this special health and social care event is designed to bring together providers and commissioners of health and social care services, offering them a chance to explore some of the emerging issues and changes taking place. There is currently a funding opportunity for Sandwell Voluntary and Community Organisations via the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) Fund. A value of up to £8000 per provider is available. The funding runs between November 2010 and July 2011 and is paid on specified outputs based on results. Please see Commissioning Framework for more detailed requirements of the fund and a copy of the application form. The closing date for the application forms to be returned is Friday 26 November 2010.
