Membership

Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations is a membership organisation open to all community groups and voluntary organisations active in Sandwell. It’s Board of Directors is elected from it’s membership and oversees the strategic direction of SCVO.

Its broad base of members therefore provides strength and credibility for SCVO in giving a voice to the experiences, views and aspirations of the Sector and in delivering capacity building services relevant in a diverse and ever-changing environment. SCVO are always looking to increase their membership and welcome applications from organisations and groups serving any part of Sandwell’s community. Prospective members may wish to view SCVO’s statement of values.

Benefits of Membership
Membership of SCVO is free of charge and all members gain certain entitlements and access to our complete range of services. These include:

The right to nominate members to the Board of SCVO and vote at SCVO’s Annual General Meeting (one vote per organisation). Members may also stand for election to the Board of SCVO.

  • Free subscription to our regular newsletter ‘SCVO.INFO’.
  • Free space for articles in ‘SCVO.INFO’ (subject to space availability).
  • Free use of SCVO’s Core Services, such as support with funding, governance issues, quality standards, organisational development, etc..
  • Support in accessing grants administered by SCVO.
  • Up-to-date information on matters of importance to the Voluntary and Community sector through regular mailings.
  • Invitation to events held by SCVO.
  • Up-to-date information regarding developments within the Voluntary and Community Sector and partnership initiatives.
  • Access to and information regarding voluntary and community sector forums and networks.
  • Representation for the Sector on local and national partnership bodies and forums.

How to Become a Member of SCVO

Applications for membership will be considered at the next meeting of the Board of Directors, after which applicant organisations will be contacted.
