Sandwell Council’s Single Equality Scheme

Sandwell Council has developed its first Single Equality Scheme (SES) in line with the requirements of the new Equality Act 2010 which extends the protected characteristics under the original duties (race, disability, gender) to include age, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief, and sexual orientation.

The Single Equality Scheme (SES) sets out the Council’s strategic vision for Sandwell and how it intends to deliver services that meet the needs of our diverse community.  It begins to establish our high-level leadership commitment and direction for improving the lives of all residents.
