Sandwell Compact

The Compact is an agreement between Sandwell’s community and voluntary groups and their statutory sector counterparts.  By setting out the principles governing the relationship between the two sectors, the Compact aims to set the tone of their relationship, supporting them to work together to do good things for the people of Sandwell.  The Compact sits alongside local plans like the Sandwell Plan, the Sandwell Local Area Agreement and shapes the way that they are delivered.

Whilst the Compact is not a legally binding document it is a statement of intent and aspiration.

Since mid-2007 work on revising the existing Sandwell Compact has been underway, led by a cross-sector Steering Group.

The revised changes to the Compact was put out for consultation for all voluntary and statutory sector stakeholders in March 2008 for a 12 week period.

Following this consultation, the Steering Group brought together all the feedback in a report which provided guidance on where revisions and changes need to be made.

At present all partners are looking towards signing up to the new Compact agreement in autumn/winter 2008, subject to agreement of the revised document by all partners.

The amended documents which are being considered are:

Compact - Foreword
Governance Code of Practice
Funding Code of Practice
Glossary of Terms
