Relate seeks a Counsellor and Business Support Assistant

Relate Birmingham is an independent charity and a member of the national Relate Federation. Relate work to help individuals, parents and families in the West Midlands and South Staffordshire to build better relationships by delivering a range of services, including counselling, groups, mediation, education and training and professional development.

The charity is recruiting the following posts:

Counsellor – Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Wolverhampton)
Salary: £26,000 p.a. pro rata
12 hours per week (including one evening)
Fixed term contract: initially for 12 months

There is a vacancy for an experienced Counsellor to set up and deliver a new service, providing free, confidential counselling and support service for victims of domestic violence and abuse in Wolverhampton to help them recover and move on with their lives.

This project is a partnership between Relate Birmingham and the Wolverhampton Domestic Violence Forum and the service is funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, initially for a 12 month period.

You will act as main point of contact for the service, building relationships with the Wolverhampton Domestic Violence Forum partnership, IDVAs and other local organisations to identify referrals. You will deliver up to 9 hours each week of one to one counselling and group work to victims of domestic violence and monitor and report on outcomes for clients.

The successful applicant will be a qualified counsellor, with relevant experience providing counselling and group work in a similar role or environment and an up to date knowledge of domestic violence and abuse. You’ll have good interpersonal and networking skills, good IT skills and experience of project/service delivery and reporting.

The post will be based initially at our office in Wolverhampton but there is scope to deliver from community venues in the City as the project develops.

Business Support Assistant
Salary – £20,000 pa
Fixed term contract: initially for 12 months

A confident and resourceful individual is sought to provide administrative and business support to the Chief Executive, liaise with staff and external contacts, and assist in business development, marketing, projects and contract monitoring.

The successful applicant will have relevant experience in a similar role and strong administrative, IT and organisational skills. You’ll have excellent people and communication skills and the ability to manage several pieces of work or projects at the same time. You will take a proactive approach to a broad and varied workload, and be comfortable working independently and also in a busy small team environment.

This full time post is based in our main office, near Five Ways in Birmingham, though some flexibility will be required to work occasional evenings, including attending evening Board meetings and to travel to other locations.
