Sandwell Tip Reopens
The council, along with its environmental services partner, Serco, is happy to announce the reopening of a key waste service to residents. The tip reopened on Monday, 4th May, and will initially operate on reduced opening times. A review of opening hours will be reviewed in the coming weeks.
The Household Recycling Centre (HRC) opening times are from 10am to 2pm from Monday to Friday. The tip will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays until further notice.
It is expected the site will be very busy so residents are advised to plan ahead and only make a visit if it is absolutely essential.
Vans, trailers and traders will not be permitted to enter the site and only one person will be permitted in each car, unless bringing a bulky item that requires two people to unload it or if the person is registered as having a disability and carries an unauthorised Blue Badge. If two people are required, they must be from the same household.
Those planning on using the site will need to verify that they live in Sandwell by providing at least two forms of identification, including photo identification, such as their driver’s licence, and proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or current council tax summary, which they will be asked to show against closed car windows.
Given the coronavirus pandemic is not over, social distancing will be maintained on site at all times, which means the site may operate in a different way to normal. Therefore, the staff on site will not be able to assist the public with their waste disposal/unloading, to ensure social distancing rules are upheld.
