Improving opportunities for children in Smethwick
Are you passionate about supporting children to thrive?
Ileys Community Association is seeking volunteer tutors to help children from Key Stages 1-4 catch up with lessons. They welcome all from trainee teachers wishing to boost their job prospects to retired teachers not quite ready to put down their marking pens.
Sessions will be planned according to volunteers’ availability and will take place at Victoria Park Skill Centre in Smethwick.
Family Support Coordinator Said Odowa said: “We work with newly/recently arrived families and refugees whose children are underachieving in education. We need volunteer tutors for supplementary classes and homework support sessions.”
Ileys is also interested to hear from martial arts tutors who would like to give some time supporting children to gain confidence and boost their self-esteem.
