Connecting with others in a safe environment is top priority for most of us at the moment.

The new local initiative Bringing People Together (BPT) is offering organisations the support to do just that.

Designed to help organisations connect people from the comfort of their own homes, BPT aims to become a network of local groups offering a safe place for friendships, laughter and uplifting encouragement.

Coordinator Su Parker said: “BPT is inspired by Places of Welcome, where everyone can feel safe to connect, belong and contribute within a physical place. However, BPT uses telephone and computer / online platforms to enable people to connect safely with others who all share a link with a neighbourhood or area and can form on-going friendships.”

Su is looking for 50 organisations across the region to get involved as hosts. Lottery funding will support set up costs for six months initially to pay for the licence for online platforms, provide training and give support along the way.
