Action for Children does what’s right, does what’s needed and does what works for children across the UK. Every year, our team changes the lives of 301,000 children, young people and their families – but for every child who needs help to get help, there’s plenty more to do. That’s where you come in.

Sandwell Working Together with Families service provides intensive early support to families where children are at risk of neglect. We follow a relationship-based model providing focussed interventions as early as possible to achieve change before problems become entrenched. We operate across 4 towns: Smethwick, Oldbury, Wednesbury and West Bromwich.

We work with families for 22 weeks in total which is broken down into 3 phases. Families can be supported via single agency, through early help where practitioners take on the lead professional role. The service uses the Graded Care Profile 2 as its tool for assessment and evidencing change.

    The Role

As a Family Support Practitioner, you’ll manage approx. 6-8 cases depending on the complexity to provide practical and emotional support to families to reduce concerns of neglect.

The role is full-time (37 hours a week) basis and the hours are Monday to Friday. Generally, these are 9-5 but there will be some flexibility required to start earlier or finish later depending on the needs of the service.

    Family Support Practitioner
    Location: West Bromwich or Smethwick
Hours: Fixed Term, Full Time until March 2022 (working 37 hours a week)
    Salary: Circa £20,100 per annum

Closing date for applications is the 21st June 2021
