Sandwell Leisure Trust is currently looking to attract people to become swimming teachers and would like to recruit Sandwell residents. The Leisure Trust is specifically aiming to attract older residents who may have been made redundant or who are retired but looking for employment.

Sandwell Leisure Trust will pay for the relevant training of candidates and aim to employ them afterwards within one of their centres. The courses are scheduled to take place in April/May 2022 but SLT would like to share the information with the Voluntary and Community Sector partners that may be working with someone suitable.

Courses are run at SLT’s Safety Training Awards (STA) Approved Training Centre at Langley Swimming Centre. Details of the courses are:

5 day course to be able to teach beginners
4 day course to become fully qualified
1 day course to have a lifesaving qualification

There is a pre-requisite swim test:
Enter pool safely at the deepest point
Tread water for one minute continuously
Swim 25m then Perform a Surface Dive and retrieve a manikin from the deepest part of the pool. On their first attempt.
Climb out the deep end of pool unaided and without the use of steps or ladders.

For more information please contact Langley Swimming Centre on 0121 543 1848 or email LangleySCinfo@slt-leisure.co.uk
