SCVO is very pleased to announce the opening of TWO new Vision 2030 Grant themes today.

    Background

Vision 2030 sets out the ambitions towards making Sandwell (in 2030) a thriving, optimistic and resilient community. Central to this vision is the message of closer partnership working between all sectors and communities across the borough. The aspiration is for Sandwell (now and in the future) to be where we call home and where we’re proud to belong – where we choose to bring up our families, where we feel safe and cared for, enjoying good health, rewarding work, feeling connected and valued in our neighbourhoods and communities, confident in the future, and benefiting fully from a revitalised West Midlands.

SCVO is delivering this grant programme, on behalf of and in partnership with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, to enable voluntary and community groups to deliver activities in Sandwell, and to Sandwell residents.

The two new themes, launched today, are:

Commonwealth Games 2022 – to support activities in 2022 that have a ‘Commonwealth’ and ‘Games’ focus. There’s a £500 micro grant to support ‘Celebration’-type activities and up to £3,000 for delivery around ‘Getting Involved’ – encouraging people to become involved in their local community, particularly those who haven’t been involved before.

Climate Change – supporting community activities that help to tackle climate change in Sandwell, including measures that ca reduce carbon emissions (mitigation) or that make communities more resilient to changes in the climate (adaptation).

**PLEASE NOTE** – in order to be eligible to apply to the Climate Change Grants theme, you need to have attended one of the following training sessions (content for each is the same):

Please attend one of SMBC’s training sessions to find out how communities can respond to the climate change emergency – book your place by sending an email to  Climate_Change@sandwell.gov.uk  :

    • Thursday 28th April 2022, 3-4pm
    • Friday 29th April 2022, 10-11am
    • Monday 16th May 2022, 2-3pm
    • Tuesday 24th May 2022, 3-4pm

You can find out more detail about BOTH programmes by visiting: SCVO | Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations and looking for the relevant sets of Guidance Notes.

As with ALL our grant programmes, your first port of call is a conversation with Liz Webster, SCVO’s Community Partnerships Coach to discuss your idea(s) and confirm eligibility – e: liz@scvo.info or m: 07923 259821 (or, in Liz’s absence, Stuart Ashmore – e: stuart@scvo.info / m: 07703 823226).
