SCVO is this week celebrating the achievement of a quality award that recognises its role supporting local communities as the umbrella organisation for Sandwell’s charity and not-for-profit sector.

The Local Infrastructure Quality Award (LIQA) is awarded by NAVCA, the national charity for local community support and development organisations (also known as local infrastructure) in England.  To achieve the quality accreditation SCVO’s activities were independently assessed against a rigorous framework of outcomes and objectives.  These focused on the quality and impact of SCVO’s work, and looked particularly at how SCVO supports and develops community action, increases resident participation and volunteering, nurtures collaboration and partnerships between agencies, and engages in local decision-making.

SCVO’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Davis said “The LIQA assessment really put us through our paces, so we’re delighted to have come through having achieved the award.  It’s a really important step for us in our quest to provide strong infrastructure support for Sandwell’s voluntary sector and to keep improving as an organisation.  This award not only celebrates the work of the SCVO team but also our many strong voluntary sector and strategic partnerships, so it’s something we should all be proud of.”

SCVO provides development support, guidance and assistance to voluntary organisations and community groups in Sandwell through a wide range of activities, as well as networking, information and engagement opportunities.
