The government has announced a new £63 million fund to help keep public swimming pools afloat.
The Swimming Pool Support Fund, administered by Sport England, will allow local authorities to apply for funding for leisure centres with pools that face immediate pressures caused by rising energy and maintenance costs. Of the funding, £40 million will go towards making pools more energy efficient in the long term, and £23 million will be made available to help leisure centres deal with rising costs.
Council-run pools, as well as those run on behalf of councils by private companies and charities are all eligible for support.
