Many trustees avoid social media, but social media is currently the key communications platform for society, and therefore our charities.
If trustees do not engage with social media we risk not promoting their cause, not modelling a better way of engaging and not keeping up with what others think – especially those who view things differently. There are so many ways to drive change on social media. We can influence people we would not normally reach or have our point picked up by a journalist or influencer. Importantly, we have the opportunity to learn about our service users or beneficiaries by following them and seeing what is driving them.
