With the year anniversary of the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games soon approaching, the magic of the games is still alive.

On Wednesday 24 May Network Rail and the West Midlands Combined Authority launched a nationwide competition to give the Raging Bull, once featured in the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, a permanent new name.

Over the next two weeks you can put forward your most creative and magnificent suggestions by emailing: namethebull@networkrail.co.uk

By Wednesday 7 June the top names will be shortlisted. These will then be put to a public vote with the final name being revealed ahead of the bull’s official unveiling this summer.

This is a unique opportunity for you to have a hand in influencing the naming of a significant landmark and a lasting legacy of the Games. Please do get involved!

The much-loved centrepiece to last year’s Games’ opening ceremony is undergoing major work to make it suitable for its new home on the station concourse. Special effects designers Artem, which originally built the bull, are re-moulding new parts so it meets fire regulations and fitting exciting new mechanisms so its head, eyes and tail can continue to move in similar ways to they did during the Games.
