Local community project, Brushstrokes, has been recognised for its contribution to the local community at the recent BBC Radio WM ‘Make A Difference Awards’.

The awards started during the Covid pandemic to highlight good work being done by individuals and organisations.

Brushstrokes were recognised with the ‘Community Group’ award for its support to people going through difficult times in their lives. As well as helping local people, it has worked with refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine and other countries.

David Newall BEM, Project Manager said, “This is a wonderful recognition of the work of our volunteers and staff team each week in helping to make Sandwell a place of welcome for all.”

Brushstrokes also offers a weekly café (with hot food), IT classes, a bike club, food and film events and a foodbank.
