Cancer champions train in basic information which can help them save lives by spreading the word. The free, online, six-hour training package is being offered starting in January 2024.

Run by Cancer Research and the Black Country Integrated Care Board (NHS), the training is spread across three evenings in January, February and March.

The trainer said: “We know that the earlier a cancer is detected, the better the outcome for the people involved. Why not top up your knowledge and confidence so that you can help yourself, your family members, patients, and colleagues to raise awareness.

“The role simply requires you to take top tips and best practice back to your setting/community and help to improve awareness around cancer screening and early diagnosis.

“Over time, it is hoped that you will have lots of opportunities to learn from health professionals to share the good things you have been learning about.”
