The Breastfeeding Network BfN is committed to empowering parents to breastfeed for as long as they choose, by giving parents and families the information they need to make informed decisions about breastfeeding and to become confident in their choices knowing BfN support is available along the way.
The BfN have provided a commissioned Peer Support Service in Sandwell since 2010, and host drop-in support groups across Sandwell; creating free, safe spaces for parents to meet other parents, ask questions and access evidence-based information on all aspects of breastfeeding/chest feeding and infant feeding for babies of all ages.
The community drop-in groups are available term time Tuesday to Friday*. Current venues:
- Tuesday: Brunswick Babies Group at Sons of Rest Wednesbury 10am
- Wednesday: Little Ferns at Ferndale Primary School, Great Barr 9:30am & Little Acorns at The Oak House Museum, West Bromwich 12:30pm
- Thursday: Haden Hill House Group & Walks, Haden Hill, Cradley Heath 10:30
- Friday: Breastfeeding Brunch at IKEA, Wednesbury 10am & Walking Group at Sandwell Valley 10am (alternate weeks)
In addition, the Peer Support team host social groups online each week and offer antenatal workshops (virtual and in-person). One-to-one tailored support is available from Peer Supporters as needed – this could be in a family’s home, phone or video call, support by text message/WhatsApp or through our social media platforms.
Updated group timings and venues, plus, information on how to book onto an antenatal workshop or walking group can be found at https://linktr.ee/sandwellbfn.
