Despite being a national charity, our local Samaritans branch has to raise its own funding to survive.

So Black Country volunteers are organising local events to mark Samaritans being the Charity of the Year for the 2024 TCS London Marathon.

On Saturday April 20th they kick off Marathon weekend with a run at the Dell Stadium, Bryce Road, Brierley Hill, DY5 4NE. Everyone is invited to join in for free – all ages and abilities – runners, non-runners, families, wheelchair users and pushchair pushers. Donations will be welcome.

Participants can choose to run 100m, 400m (one circuit of the all-weather track) or four circuits which equal a mile!

Every 26 people who run a mile means a marathon will be run in Brierley Hill – coinciding with the marathon runners in London.

As dusk falls, many local landmarks will be Lighting Up Green as a reminder that Samaritans is there for anyone who needs emotional support, wherever they are, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Anyone can contact Samaritans, free, any time from any phone on 116 123, or email jo@samaritans.org or visit www.samaritans.org
