Windrush Takeover Day – Saturday, 22 June 2024
Join the Kingsway Project as it celebrates Windrush 76, which follows the epic success of last year’s achievement. Black Country Living Museum in Dudley is proud to commemorate Windrush, a symbolic moment in history, showcasing Black British contribution to the UK from the Commonwealth and beyond.
Visit the Windrush Pop-up: The Front Room, located in the Visitor Centre. Join in the choir practice with the gospel choir in the Methodist Chapel. Learn how to play dominos in the Elephant & Castle pub and gather the tricks of the game to play your hand like a Jamaican!
Look out for the colourful Windrush characters finding a job in the Black Country and a place to call home.
Cultural cuisine is also available on the day.
