Financial Support for Parents & Teens (16-19 year olds) this Summer
We’d like to share important information from HMRC for families across the borough regarding Child Benefit for parents of 16 to 19 year olds.
Parents currently claiming Child Benefit have until 31 August 2024 to inform HMRC if their child is continuing in non-advanced education or approved training to extend their payments.
HMRC have developed a pack of communication materials for you to share with the families you work with and support which can be downloaded here and includes:
- Information on extending Child Benefit
- A pre-written newsletter article
- Pre-written social media posts to share on your channels – with imagery attached to this email
- Pre-written text messages
Your support in sharing this information is crucial to ensuring parents don’t miss out on money they might be entitled to.
Additionally, the pack includes information on Child Trust Funds, which are tax-free savings accounts worth up to £2,000 for children, along with guidance on how parents can check if their child has one.
Please share this information with families and across your networks.
