Support to boost the sports workforce of the future is on hand in the Black Country.

CIMSPA, The Chartered Body for Sport & Physical Activity, is on a mission to professionalise the sector by raising awareness/understanding of what opportunities are on offer, and what skills are needed to fill roles.

Local manager Matt Hammett said he is looking to local sports and physical activity providers to give valuable works experience and volunteering opportunities to people, particularly youngsters, in need of gaining life skills and practical guidance.

“Many apply for jobs but clearly don’t have the life experience needed to gain employment in the sports sector,” he said. ‘We’re working with education providers too, so that by connecting volunteering opportunities with pathways to work we can hopefully prepare the workforce of tomorrow to become more ‘work-ready’.”

Local sports and activity providers could also gain professional recognition through linking with CIMSPA, along with advice and guidance around business development.

You can view their web site here https://www.cimspa.co.uk/localskills/ or contact Matt direct: Matt.Hammett@cimspa.co.uk
