SCVO is pleased to introduce the latest member of the team, Benjamin Blake, whose role is Charity Digital Connector.  We have been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to run a pilot aimed at building the digital capacities of voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations across Sandwell.

Benjamin’s role is to ensure that the borough’s VCS organisations are adequately supported in the use of digital-based tools and information to enhance their internal and external working processes.

Benjamin comes from a digital background, having previously worked as the lead at a Birmingham-based hub.  The hub served to digitally upskill housing tenants, project leaders and members of the community by way of delivering a range of workshops; from basic online and IT skills for carrying out everyday tasks, to content creation and online project marketing.

This is new and exciting project, one which we believe is very important for the borough. It is vital that we try to bridge the digital divide to build confidence within organisations which feel apprehensive about using digital or may have lost touch with recent digital developments.

Benjamin is working on launching a digital focus group, where representatives from VCS organisations can meet, share information and offer peer support around digital skills.

If you have any questions, or feel you have information that you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact Benjamin at benjamin@scvo.info
