As the borough prepares for the arrival of the Knife Angel on 30th September, Sandwell Council is excited to share ways you, your organisation, and your networks can get involved in this important campaign. They are planning a full calendar of activities throughout October to raise awareness about the devastating effects of knife crime and promote community safety.

By clicking on the link, you can download the resource pack – How to Get Involved Guide: This guide provides detailed ideas and suggestions for individuals, schools, businesses, and community organisations to take part.

    Key Events

    · Civil Opening Ceremony
    📅 2 October 4–6 pm
Join the event to officially launch the Knife Angel campaign in Sandwell.

    • Nominations for Performers and Presenters: Do you know someone who would like to perform or present on stage during the opening ceremony? If so, please submit your nominations by 20th September.

    · Civil Closing Ceremony
    📅 29 October 2–6 pm
This ceremony will reflect on the campaign’s impact and community contributions.

    • Nominations for Performers and Presenters: If you know individuals or groups who would like to perform or present on stage at the closing event, please submit your nominations by 30th September.
    • Showcase Your Organisation: organisations and groups are being invited to showcase their work at this closing event. If you’d like to take part, please get in touch to discuss how you can be involved.

If you are planning your own event, then please get in touch for support.

Award Nominations – Recognising Local Champions

As part of the Knife Angel campaign, there will be recognition of individuals who have championed knife crime education and awareness in Sandwell. These awards will be presented at the opening ceremony by representatives from the British Ironworks Museum.

    • Nominate Your Champion:
Please submit the names and a brief description of individuals you wish to nominate by 19th September. These nominations should highlight their contributions to promoting safety and awareness of knife crime in the community.

If you would like to contribute any events, activities, or ideas for the October calendar, please share your suggestions with the Council by 20th September.

Please direct all correspondence and nominations to Community SafetyTeam: Community_SafetyTeam@sandwell.gov.uk

Thank you for your continued support in making Sandwell a safer, more united community.
