Communities In Sync is proud to present their new Sandwell Talking Therapies Plus service. Talking Therapies Plus is a free and confidential counselling service for residents aged 18 and older. The service is funded by the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Talking Therapies Plus provides support for Sandwell residents who are experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression and bereavement. Their Talking Therapies Plus service aims to support underserved communities across Sandwell, which includes Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, refugees and migrants, LGBTQ+ people, older adults, deaf and hearing impaired people and men.
They do this by taking a person-centered, flexible and culturally appropriate approach to delivering Talking Therapies, for example, providing access to therapists with a range of language skills (include Ukrainian, Russian, Patois, Punjabi, Urdu, Farsi etc.) and matching service users to therapists with the same background.
How to Get Help
Step 1: Reach out
Make a referral on their website or by phone (07717680965). They are available to listen and understand what you’re going through from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Referrals can be made out of hours (e.g. weekends) using the online referral form.
Step 2: An initial chat
They’ll quickly find out if their services are right for you with an initial phone call (Triage). During this call, they’ll plan how they can best help you feel better.
Step 3: Begin your therapy
After the assessment, they’ll suggest the best support options, always keeping in mind what works best for you. They can also advise on help you can access while you are waiting for your therapy.
