Discover Sandwell u3a – Live, Laugh, Learn in Your Third Age

Are you recently retired or enjoying more free time now that full-time work is behind you? Looking for ways to stay active, meet new people, and explore interests old and new? Then Sandwell u3a could be just what you’re looking for.

We recently celebrated 20 years of bringing people together in what’s known as the “Third Age” – that vibrant time of life when many of us finally get to focus on ourselves. Whether it’s revisiting long-lost hobbies, trying something completely new, or simply connecting with others in a friendly environment, Sandwell u3a offers the space and support to make it happen.

    What is Sandwell u3a?

Part of the nationwide u3a (University of the Third Age) movement, Sandwell u3a is run by members, for members. It’s not about qualifications or exams – it’s about enjoying shared interests and learning for the sheer fun of it.

Our monthly meetings at Gayton Road Community Centre in West Bromwich are always engaging affairs. There’s plenty of time to socialise, plus an entertaining and informative guest speaker at each session.

    But that’s just the beginning.

Explore New Interests – or Dive Back Into Old Ones

With a wide range of special interest groups running throughout the month, you can get involved in:

    • 🎨 Art
    • 🎶 Music
    • 💻 Computing
    • 🗣️ Languages
    • ♟️ Chess
    • 🎳 Bowls

These groups are led by members and shaped by the interests of the community – so if you have a passion or skill to share, there’s always room for something new.

We also arrange trips to theatres and places of interest, making it easy to enjoy days out in great company.
