Sandwell Councils Air Quality Team are currently updating the borough’s Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) and would really welcome the views of groups and organisations both in Sandwell and further afield.

While air pollution has improved over the last five years, levels are still too high in many areas of the borough. Pollution from traffic, wood burning, and industry continues to pose serious health risks especially for children, older adults, and people with heart or lung conditions.

The draft plan includes 21 practical measures to tackle these issues. The top 3 priorities are:

    • Supporting more sustainable travel e.g. walking, cycling, wheeling & public transport,
    • Introducing new School Streets to reduce traffic outside some schools,
    • Lowering speed limits on selected roads to cut emissions.

The Air Quality Team need your input! The consultation survey takes just 10 minutes and is open until 21 September 2025. 👉 https://consultationhub.sandwell.gov.uk/public-health/air-quality-action-plan-2025/
