Annual Conference 2020: Working Together Differently (Booked Event)

The WM Funders Network in partnership with One Walsall and SCVO have organised a conference to enable funders and the VCSE to step back, reflect, share thinking and practice, experience, knowledge and approaches.

The voluntary and community and social enterprise sectors have faced challenging times with an economic downturn, government policy of austerity measures and local public sector cuts. Media coverage of recent governance and fundraising scandals have cast a spotlight on the charity sector and influenced public perception of the work of charities. The progress of Brexit has raised implications for the future of the sector as well as creating increasing divisions within society. Parallel to this has been the launch of the Government’s civil society strategy and the Independent Inquiry on the Future of Civil Society’s report on their 2 year consultation setting out current issues and ways forward for a stronger civil society. Other factors such as technological and digital advancements can be seen as opportunities for the sector to operate more efficiently and effectively, but have struggled to take advantage of.

So how does the sector continue to adapt and respond to this changing landscape in a climate of reducing funds and increasing demand? How can we re-imagine what we do and how we do it? What could be new ways of thinking and approaches to the challenges and opportunities?
