Faces and Places Photography is a workshop, inspired by the photos of Magnum photographer, Martin Parr, of discussion and practical activity. It provides you with an opportunity to discover the working practices of experienced local photographers Daniel Bevan (landscape), Peter Lopeman (documenter) and Phil Turner (photo editing). The introductory overview of Martin Parr’s work will be given by Fran Wilde.
Martin Parr is one of Britain’s foremost documenters. He has worked over several years with Sandwell’s own Multistory, bringing the people of Sandwell into his keen focus.
Exhibition opportunity: Some images coming out of this workshop will be printed and shown alongside Martin Parr’s work as part of the Faces and Places Exhibition, 20 May-29 June 2019, at The Art Yard.
Editing opportunity: A follow-on digital editing session for workshop participants will be held on Saturday 18 May 11am-1pm. A team of experienced photographers will offer advice on preparing photographs for exhibition.
The workshop and exhibition are supported by MFAA in collaboration with Blast! Festival. The editing opportunity is arranged by MFAA as part of iSandwell Digital Festival.
Participants are required to bring with them their own digital photographs on USB media or similar to learn more about digital editing techniques to professional and publication standards.
