Volunteers and the Law Seminar (SCVO)

15 June 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Volunteers play an integral part within an organisation and are often the heartbeat that supports the development and delivery needed to make things happen. It is therefore important that organisations understand their legal obligations to protect themselves and their volunteers.

This seminar, delivered by Black Country legal firm Higgs & Sons in partnership with SCVO, will aim to provide voluntary sector leaders and managers with information, guidance and food for thought on some of the legalities of utilising volunteers within an organisations delivery model. The seminar it is open to any voluntary and community organisation active in Sandwell and Dudley and contains something for everyone.

Topics covered will include:-
• When is a volunteer not a volunteer (employment status of volunteers).
• Use of volunteer agreements.
• Obligations owed to volunteers (for health and safety).
• Potential claims of volunteers.

There is a maximum of 30 places available for this virtual seminar. All places must be booked through Eventbrite by clicking here. Once you have registered to attend the seminar we will email you with joining instructions nearer the time of the seminar.
