Do you want to develop important skills in areas like communication, people engagement and networking, while being part of a fully supportive and friendly team?
The Community Outreach Team at Sandwell Valley are urgently looking for volunteers to join them. The team helps the reserve to raise the awareness of nature and conservation out in the community and to inspire people to visit the wonderful RSPB Sandwell Valley reserve.
What the RSPB Do:
Daytime local community events include Spring Fayres, Fetes, School Holiday Events, Halloween, etc. Talking to people about visiting RSPB Sandwell Valley reserve and encouraging families to become more aware of nature in a fun and informative way.
The craft-based family activities at these events engage with youngsters to make simple wildlife-themed crafts and take part in fun wildlife challenges. Volunteers help to support outdoor local community projects and organisations who are looking for basic, practical advice on how to attract wildlife and work with nature for their planting schemes and outdoor projects.
RSPB are looking to build a strong team of volunteers, who can commit in advance to events which are pre-booked throughout the year. Volunteers can also get involved with helping to book and organise the Team’s attendance at events. Full training and support will be provided.
What’s in it for you?
You will gain valuable skills and experience, including communication, publicity, people engagement, working with families, organising and networking. You will receive one-to-one support and training and have opportunities to learn and develop if you wish to.
You will get a valuable experience within the largest environmental charity in Europe. This experience can help you get involved in the conservation/charity sector. Expenses will be reimbursed.
If this sounds interesting, the RSPB would be delighted to hear from you. Please express your interest by emailing Kostas Smponias, Volunteer Recruitment Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling on 07710760352.
