The Route2Wellbeing Portal is an exciting new initiative which places information about local community-based services at the fingertips of health professionals and other local support agencies.
The website is the fruit of partnership work between SCVO, Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) and a local consortium of GPs, Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The website was created as one part of a wider pilot programme of activity in late 2012 and early 2013 to ‘warm up’ engagement and foster better understanding and working relationships between the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and local GPs and health professionals.
The site is different from existing directories insofar as it allows users to set their own location and search from a wide range of services which are specifically local to them. Information is stored on a service by service basis, meaning that organisations can have multiple listings, with each service and different location or point of access displayed for the user. The site is used not just by members of the public, but also by health professionals and local GPs in Sandwell, and SCVO works with these GPs to encourage signposting and referrals to local VCS provision that will support local patients to find non-medical support and guidance in addition to that which the health service can offer them.

SCVO invites organisations who wish to list their services on the portal to get in touch. Organisations already listed on SCVO’s main database www.sandwellvcs.info will not be asked to provide duplicate information, only details which are specific to individual services.
