Managing Comments & Backup

WP-Backup & Comments_530x330Managing Comments

If comments are enabled on your websites pages or posts you can control when they become visible. Choose to make them visible as soon as a visitor leaves them, or have your settings arranged for a site administrator to check all comments before they are made public.

It is always a good idea to get feedback (particularly on posts / articles) from your visitors and users, but always be aware of spammers and malicious comments. This is why generally if you have comments enabled you should set them to be moderated (for pre-checking) prior to publication.

It is also a good idea to install a SPAM filter plugin which will intercept SPAM and automatically send them to your SPAM bin.

A plugin called Akismet is loaded by default in all WordPress applications and there are a number of others available in the WordPress plugin directory.

Backing-up your site

It is always sensible to ensure that electronic files that you depend upon are copied / backed-up regularly so that you don’t loose valuable data. Many of us do this all the time with files on our PC’s, but the same is also required of your website.

During the design phase of your website we will have advised on appropriate plugins to do the job for you, and more than likely we will also install them for you during the process.

Below are a couple of links to tutorials / websites to give you a feel for the importance of this feature. There are many FREE plugins available and we have also featured a paid premium version if you require that little bit more.
