Regulator changing the data it collects on charities – have your say!

If you are  trustee or in charge of running a charity, especially if you perform a role like Treasurer, Secretary, or Finance Director, the Directory of Social Change is urging you to respond to the Charity Commission’s consultation on the next version of the Annual Return, which is open until 1 September.

Local School Nature Grants

Schools in England, Scotland and Wales can apply for up to £500 worth of free outdoor equipment and up to half a day of professional outdoor training to deliver outdoor learning and play.

The funding is being made available through the charity Learning through Landscapes’ Local School Nature Grant Programme and is funded by the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Funding will also be open to Early Year’s settings which have their own building and more than five staff.

There will be four funding rounds throughout the year which will support a total of 900 schools.

The next closing date for applications is the 2nd September 2022.

Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives: Area Coordinator

Due to expansion across the Black Country, the Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives Scheme are looking to recruit three  new Area Coordinators to assist in its development. Shared Lives is sometimes described as ‘foster care for adults’ but it’s so much more than that.  Specially trained carers enable the person to take control of their life, make informed decisions and become a part of the community in which they live.

Your role is to assess and supervise the carers, carefully match each arrangement, and ensure that regulatory standards are met.

Charity Banking Survey Results

The Directory of Social Change has reported on the outcome of a survey on charity banking, to which over 1200 voluntary organisations responded from March to May 2022. The results have produced a wealth of detailed information about the issues charities are facing.

Following the survey, a Briefing report has been prepared by NCVO, NAVCA, ACRE, WCVA and CFG.

The Art Yard is now accepting submissions for the July Open Exhibition.  You can submit up to five pieces or work. There are no special requirements on the type of art or subject matter.  All work is very welcome.

Please ensure that:

  • Your work is ready to hang and has cord or fixing plates fitted to the rear of the work.
  • There are no protrusions, such as eyelets or fixings, from the back of the work.
  • There is a label is attached on the back of the work.
  • The submission form should be returned by Saturday, 2nd July 2022.
