Sandwell youngsters who did not get the best start in life have an exciting opportunity courtesy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Gen22 is a programme designed with and for young people who may have been young carers, teenage parents, involved in crime, or for whatever reason have very poor self-esteem.
Organisations can nominate young people aged 16-24 for the community programme, which includes them taking part in ‘social assignments’ such as volunteering in return for mentor support, employment advice and a package of incentives including a ticket for an event at the Games.
Businesses, charities, schools and youth organisations are invited to nominate a young person, as well as offering suggestions for assignments that participants could take on.
