Religious Circumcision – Community Meetings

Religious Circumcision – Community Meetings

As you may be aware, NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG commissions (buys) local healthcare services on your behalf. Circumcision for medical reasons is still available across the NHS, but the NHS has progressively phased out the provision of circumcision for any other reason. NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG is the last NHS commissioner to implement this change but we are now planning to do so.

We understand that there are concerns where families turn to unqualified and unregulated practitioners for circumcision, or families on low income may struggle to pay for the procedure from a private provider.

We have put two meetings in place to listen to any other concerns that the community may have and to work together with other public services and the local community to find solutions to these concerns and agree how we can work together in the future.

There will be two opportunities to attend and the meetings will take place on:

Monday, 24 June 2019
Brasshouse Community Centre, Brasshouse Lane, Smethwick B66 1BA
3.00 – 3.30 pm (Registration.
3.30 – 5.00 pm (Meeting)

Wednesday, 26 June 2019
The National Metalforming Centre, 47 Birmingham Road, West Bromwich B70 6PY
5.00 – 5.30 pm (Registration)
5.30 – 7.00 pm (Meeting)

Places are limited, so if you would like to attend this event, please email or call the Communication and Engagement Team on 0121 612 1447.

The CCG believe it is important that you have your say and look forward to your input.
