Short Breaks Programme 2022-2023

Short Breaks Programme 2022-2023

SAFS are offering a range of short breaks sessions for children and young people with disabilities aged 4 – 11 years and 11 – 18 years old. This would be a great opportunity for your child and young person to learn, play, have fun and make friends.

SAFS are providing:

  • a weekend holiday club every Saturday during term time, as a 12-week rolling programme.
  • holiday clubs during School Holidays.

The times for the above holiday clubs are 9.30am-2.30pm, during the summer, and the half term, holidays. Further information is available on the flyer, which you can download HERE (pdf).

SAFS is a health and social care organisation, which provides a range of care and well-being services to support the social development and wellbeing of its young users. It is SAFS’ intention to use its significant person-centred experience, knowledge and understanding, to provide a programme for children and young people. This will enhance their development by meeting their personal varied needs and abilities.

The aim of the Short Breaks Programme is to give children and young people a safe environment, by offering positive and meaningful activities in a well supervised setting. Through the engagement, communication, and social interaction amongst peers and 1:1 with staff, children will benefit individually and as a group.

Parents and family carers will receive a short break, while the children and young people are in the care of the SAFS Services. The aim and focus will be around play; however, SAFS will address the social development and the learning new skills through these activities.

Children and young people will not be restricted to indoor activities, they will have appropriate access to external organised and planned sessions. There are additional facilities, such as a Sensory Garden and multi play/sports area as well. The setting will have a positive experience from our focussed learning environment programme.

Significant resources will be allocated for the short break programme to ensure that the children and young people have maximum positive experience to reach their full potential from the service provided by SAFS.

SAFS will continually observe and evaluate its services to ensure that the children and young people’s personal development is their primary focus.
