The event has attracted record-breaking numbers of nominees, from large and small groups across the borough, all eager to demonstrate the passion and value of their loyal volunteers.
More than 100 entries have been received, all those nominated for an award will receive a certificate, regardless of whether they are shortlisted for an award. Further independent judging to select the ultimate winner of each category is taking place.
As the centre celebrates 40 years operating within Sandwell, this significant milestone will take place during National Volunteer’s Week 1 – 7 June.
Volunteer Centre Sandwell CEO Jean Taylor said “Each year the standard of nominations to Sandwell Volunteer Awards gets stronger and stronger. It is a huge tribute to the quality of volunteers we have in Sandwell, giving their skills, talents and precious time. We at VCS are proud that individuals, groups and organisations choose these awards to appreciate their outstanding volunteers.”
The centre has been contacted by the West Midlands Honors Coordinator, West Midlands Lieutenancy, to enhance the number of quality submissions made from Sandwell to receive an honor from the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Majesty the Queen.
The Sandwell Volunteers Awards and 40th Celebration Reception will be held on Saturday, 2 June 2018.
