Children & Young People

Sandwell should be a place where children and young people are healthy, safe, enjoy and achieve, have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their community and are economically secure.  Children and young people are the future citizens of Sandwell and as such it is important that the value and contributions are recognised.

Children and young people are also amongst the most vulnerable and at greatest risk of being victims of crime and of being drawn into offending behaviour.  Children and young people must be enabled to make informed and educated choices on issues that affect their lives to help them achieve their full potential.

SCVO supports Voluntary and Community Sector providers of services to children and young people in a number of different ways to sustain, develop and improve the quality of their services.

To ensure that the Sector can engage effectively in shaping the agenda for these services across the borough, SCVO facilitates a Voluntary and Community Sector Children and Young People Forum which meets regularly.  The main aims of the Forum are to ensure that the needs of ‘not for profit’ services providers are represented in a variety of arenas, and to enable dialogue and partnership working to take place between the Sector and those from the local statutory sector.

If your organisation is working in this field, and you are not already a member of the Forum and would like to know more, please contact Leona Bird, Strategic Engagement Officer on 0121 525 1127 or e-mail: leona@scvo.info
