Sandwell needs to be a place where people have the opportunity to live long, healthy and happy lives because of the information, choices and quality of services provided to them. Over the last century there have been big improvements in the nation’s health and people are living longer.
Despite these improvements, the gap in health between those at the top and the bottom of the social scale has widened. The effect continues to grow as people in more deprived areas become healthier more slowly than those in more privileged neighbourhoods.
SCVO supports Voluntary and Community Sector providers of health and social care services in a number of different ways to sustain, develop and improve the quality of their services.
To ensure that the Sector can engage effectively in shaping the agenda for these services across the borough, SCVO facilitates a Voluntary and Community Sector Health and Social Care Forum which meets regularly. The main aims of the Forum are to ensure that the needs of ‘not for profit’ services providers are represented in a variety of arenas, and to enable dialogue and partnership working to take place between the Sector and those from the local statutory sector.
If your organisation is working in this field, and you are not already a member of the Forum and would like to know more, please contact Leona Bird, Strategic Engagement Officer on 0121 525 1127 or e-mail: leona@scvo.info
